Training video - Bear tackles temptation alley

We've been working hard this course on the silver and gold dogs impulse control using a temptation alley - a path lined with all of their favourite things - food (on the coloured plates), squeaky toys, tennis balls, footballs, other owners with tasty treats and of course their doggie friends! The dogs in the sit stay have to resist the urge to chase after the recalling dog or investigate the temptations and the recalling dog has to ignore all of the temptations lining his path. This video shows Bear completing the alley superbly. Good boy Bear!!

Training video - Sit stay with dog distractions - Silver II

We like to challenge our dogs in training and are always thinking up new exercises. This morning at Saint Nicholas I set up an exercise combining the sit stay and dog manners for my silver II class. In the exercise all dogs had to remain in a sit stay, 4 paces away from their owners, whilst an off lead dog walked down the centre (between the dog and owner). This exercise really tested their impulse control as what is more tempting than a beautiful blonde walking past! ( I will let you decide if you think I meant Mia or Ve (though Ve did have a pocket of cheese treats!))

Another example can be seen here with the gorgeous Ziva :https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0LMZj7NDZfw

Gold Award for Del and Molly

It was with a tinge of sadness but great pride that we have awarded our first (and hopefully last) posthumous Gold award to Del and Molly. They are only the 14th combination to have reached this standard since Enve Canine Services started in 2010. Molly was 8 years old when Del and Siroun found her at Battersea Dogs home in Windsor. She was very loving but she was reactive to dogs and not knowing her background was a challenge. Del worked very hard, training Molly with Enve to improve her social skills and Molly passed her Gold II test before they sadly lost her in 2015 to a spinal disease and stroke. Following Del taking and passing his owners exam it was only right that we recognised their hard work and gave Del their Gold award in Molly's memory. Molly is still very much missed but Del and Siroun have a new dog in their lives - rescue GSD Sadie and we are looking forward to seeing her strive for her own Gold award.

Exciting news - new training venues announced!

We are very pleased to announce that from January 2017 we will be offering weekday morning, obedience only lessons. Classes will be held for puppies and new adult dogs (bronze class) on Monday and Friday mornings at the Isle of Thanet RSPCA Animal Centre in Woodchurch (near Manston). Classes will also be held for new adult dogs (bronze class) and intermediate dogs (silver class) at the Wantsum Community & Sports Association at Bell Meadow, Saint Nicholas-at-Wade on a Wednesday morning. Full addresses can be found on the venues page of the website. We look forward to working with both of these venues. If you are interested in joining us at one of these sessions, please do not hesitate to get in touch!

ENVE does the mannequin challenge!!!

At the Christmas party Ve decided to give the mannequin challenge a go and here is the result!! I think you will agree its pretty good considering they were working with dogs!!

Gold Award for Barbara and Sats

Congratulations to Barbara and Sats who recently passed their Gold part II. Barbara is a retired headteacher and Sats was her retirement present from her school and the school children named him after the Standard Assessment Tests (SATS) they had to take! They trained previously at Orchard Dog Training in Oxon and on moving to Minster joined us at Enve Canine Services.  Barbara says "Without your help and support I would have found Sats very difficult as he was an impossible puppy and young dog and I even considered returning him to the breeder. Fortunately because he was a present from the school I loved and I became so attached I decided to battle on. Seeing him now curled up with my two grandchildren who have come for a sleepover and wearing his gold disc I couldn't be more proud and love him more." They are only the 13th combination to reach this standard since Enve Canine Services started in 2010. Congratulations!!
